01什么是连读？

英语为母语的人会把同一个意群内的单词尽可能地连接起来。

即，将一个单词的最后一个音和下一个单词的第一个音连接起来，此为连读/连音(linking)。

常见的连读是将以前面一个以辅音结尾的单词和下一个以元音开头的单词连起来。如：get up /ɡet//ʌp/ 将/t/和/ʌ/连接起来发音为/ɡetʌp/.

常见误区：连接和说得快不是一回事!

当母语人士连接单词时，他们不一定说得更快。但是讲话更流畅，也没有那么断断续续。当你在连接词时，强调实词(content words)显得非常重要，因为这会迫使你在该强调的地方放慢语速，你的讲话内容也更容易被人理解。

02为什么要连读？

许多非英语母语人士认为他们应该做到逐一清晰发出每个英语单词的音以便于别人理解他们说的话。

这确实使他们的讲话清晰，但与此同时这种讲话让人听起来感觉很古怪、很机械化，就像电脑生成的语音。

连读让发音流畅、不间断，这是讲话听起来自然、流畅的关键。

03如何连读？

3.1 Linking Consonant to Vowel 辅音和元音连读

如果一个单词以辅音结尾，下一个单词以元音开头，将前一个单词最后的辅音和下一个单词最后的元音连接起来，使之听起来好像第二个单词以第一单词的最后的一个辅音开头。

3.2 Linkinging+Vowel ing与元音连读ing与元音连读

注意把一个单词的ing/ɪŋ/结尾的/ŋ/和下一个单词的元音连接起来。发出快速的/ŋ/音，用舌头的后部触碰口腔后部。

3.3 Linking Consonant to Same Consonant 两个相同辅音的连读

当一个单词的最后一个辅音与下一个单词的第一个辅音相同时，这个辅音只发音一次。不要在两个音之间停顿，而是要把这个音拉长一点，或者加大发音强度。

3.4 Linking Two Vowels 两个不同辅音的连读

了解美式英语中塞音(stops)和连续音(continuants)的用法可以帮助你更好地连接单词。

当塞音后面跟着另一个辅音时，这个塞音不能被释放。即，在用嘴唇或舌头发出声音后，不要释放气流。释放气流后会多出一个音节。相反，只要保持口腔内的气压就可以了。

请注意，句子末尾的最后一个塞音可释放也可不释放。

当然，前一个单词以塞音结尾，后一个单词以元音开头，只需要将两个音连接起来，不需要考虑是否释放辅音的问题，因为辅音与元音连读，辅音自然释放出来了。

例如，“stop it”，听起来像“stopit”。但是当你说“stop that”时，最后的“p”不能完全爆破，因为单词“that”是以辅音开头的。

连接连续音要简单得多: 一气呵成从一个辅音滑到另一个辅音。

例如，“likes to”听起来像“like Stu”，“it’s top”听起来像“it stop”，“life and death”听起来像“lie fan death”。

3.5 Linking Vowel to Vowel 元音与元音连读

如果一个单词以元音结尾，下一个单词以元音开头，这两个单词之间不要停顿。
